Tour Description

The heart of Aotearoa, New Zealand’s beautiful north island is sparkling Lake Taupō, the great inland sea of New Zealand, trout-filled rivers and thundering Huka falls. Three towering volcanoes in the awesome and otherworldly landscape with a welcoming nature of Cape Kidnappers, an outstanding bird-watching destination, with dramatic coastal views into the bargain.

Day 1: Lake Taupō and Māori Rock Carving Cruise

Marvel at the breath-taking geothermal scenery, stunning waterfalls and world heritage-listed forest reserves, and largest freshwater lake in Australasia. A land of fire and ice, Lake Taupō, a stunning natural cauldron, is ringed by snow-capped mountains, and surrounded by geothermal hot spots, such as bubbling mud pools, fumaroles and hot springs.

A popular attraction is the Māori rock carvings on the cliffs of Mine Bay. These can only be accessed by water so lake cruises are a great way to explore them. Towering 14 metres above the waters of lake Taupō, the Māori rock carvings have become one of the biggest tourist attractions in the north island of New Zealand. Cruise to the popular Māori rock carvings while enjoying the inspiring scenery that unfolds around you. Learn about the spiritual and cultural significance of the area from the skipper and informative commentary. Sit by lake Taupō and eat fish and chips.. Discover why kiwis are so fond of this takeaway meal!

Overnight Stay in Napier.

Day 2: Cape Kidnappers and Napier City Art Deco Tour

Your day starts with a unique wildlife encounter on Cape Kidnappers.

Visit Cape Kidnappers, the world’s largest, most accessible mainland gannet colony. Ride in style and comfort over picturesque Cape Kidnappers station in an air-conditioned 4 x 4 vehicle, traversing riverbeds, broad rolling pastures, through stands of native bush, steep gullies and breath taking views. There is a stop on the way at a spectacular cliff top with panoramic views of Hawke's bay right across to the Mahia Peninsula.

On return, experience Napier’s art deco heritage. Visit the world famous sights, suburbs, buildings and landmarks of our town. Take a walk back in time with a guided walking tour. Your local guide will tell you stories of the earthquake that destroyed the city and the remarkable recovery and rebuild that was completed in less than two years. Rest of the evening set to enjoy at leisure and overnight stay in Napier.

Day 3: Lake Taupō, Huka Falls and Honey Hive Experience

We start from Napier on our way back to Auckland and we again pass through Taupō. Just a 10 minutes’ drive from Taupō town centre, along a beautiful forest-clad road that passes the world-famous luxury resort, you’ll hear the Huka falls well before you see them. It is the sound of nearly a quarter of a million litres of water per second erupting from a natural gorge and thundering 11m into the Waikato river below. Close to Huka falls awaits the Honey Hive – a sensory experience of a very different kind. A unique taste experience with free honey, mead & liqueur tastings. A fabulous and fun place for adults and children – come and see what the ‘buzz’ is all about! Complete your experience by relaxing in lounge or gardens with a coffee or delicious honey ice-cream.

Every tour provides a unique and ever changing experience & scenery which we know you’ll enjoy. During your tour there will be many fabulous photo opportunities which will leave you with fond memories that we hope you will share with your family and friends.
